"When Dandelions set the mark of May, it is time to listen to the final proof of spring: the flight song of the Upland Plover, just now back from the Argentine."

-- Aldo Leopold, 1949, "A Sand County Almanac: May"

WELCOME TO SUMMER SESSION, 2005 !

Let's make the semester a success!
The website should facilitate your access to some important details.

First, a few words on the role of this website:

The site is intended as a "bulletin board" on which you can track current information regarding class assignments and activities.

Please note, however, that your section of Biology I is instructed in the traditional
class / laboratory format, and the website does not substitute for in-class activity.

USE OF THE WEBSITE

The greatest value of the site (which is still under construction) will be in your use
of the
Web Links section, in the menu to your upper left.

In the Web Links section, you can find:

1. Class Handouts, which can be printed out.

2. Occasional PowerPoint presentations.

3. Links to Web Sites which may be helpful in elucidating class material. Check out:

  • Ilex vomitoria
  • The animation of mitotic cell division
  • Charles Darwin's entire text of "The Origin of Species" ( 305 pp ! )

  • IMPORTANT COURSE REMINDERS
